In comments to my earlier post, my brother wondered whether the text of Prop 2 might not be read to touch on heterosexual marriage itself. The AP reports that opponents of the proposition are pushing this argument in phone ads.

There was a big stink about it last week… on MetaFilter I think. If you read it the right way, it appears as though it really is impossible to get married in Texas if that law passes. Of course, if it passes someone is sure to challenge it on those grounds, and then the courts will have to decide. Crazy Texans.
