Comments: Voting Ourselves 'Rich'

I feel your pain Dave, but I'm not throwing up my hands just yet. Have you read William Johnson's biography of Harper? I can't believe that having worked his whole life for the advancement of conservative economic principles that he'd change his tune for power's sake. The same applies to Ian Brodie (who was my Intro to Cdn Govt professor at Western, and is now Harper's right hand man) and Flaherty. I can't believe that any of these guys would go the way of Mulroney. And if you look at the budget, at least it's just pork; he's not nationalizing day care and expanding the welfare state like pretty much everyone else wanted.

I don't like being in the same boat with those all-forgiving blue-blazer nerds, but don't stop thinking about the long-term game here. He's in a minority government which means he has to buy support. I'll be happy to throw the first stone however if he doesn't muster the will to bring in any number of the policies he was arguing for throughout his life if given a majority.
